Rusty Peter's scrape past battling Trinity

St Peter's were shaken but unstirred on a tricky afternoon against 10 man Trinity in Marston. Peter's went into the game on the back of an impressive victory against heavyweights St Anne's but any hopes of an easy victory were quickly dispelled by a Trinity team full of fight and a Peter's team who at times looked like they were running on empty.
The game got off to an unspectacular start before Tom Pearman continued his rich vein of scoring with a curled effort from the edge of the area. However, as so often this term, Peter's took their foot off the gas and Trinity threatened on a number of occasions.
Morgan Griffiths doubled the lead and Peter's appeared to be cruising to a second consecutative win, a thought which was compounded when Pearman added his 2nd of the match. However, a Trinity strike before half time alerted everyone that the game wasn't over.
Pearman completed his hat trick after the interval and again the Peter's ranks were dreaming of a rout. Trinity added their 2nd but Peter's stuck back through Dan Zell after a spectacular set up by Patrick Rehill to make it 5-2.
However, Trinity weren't beaten and added 2 goals to make for a tense final 15 minutes, in which Peter's were guilty of passing up chance after chance to book their place in the 3rd round. Price, the captain, shot straight at the keeper after excellent work by Sumner, and debutant James Green hit the side netting with 5 minutes to go.
Peter's held on for an unimpressive victory and will have to improve before the visit of Worcester next week if they are to continue their unbeaten run.
