Stunning Peter's display earns victory

After a disappointing display against New last week Peter's were looking for a response against St Anne's. A response they certainly got.
From the start it was Peter's on the front foot with Al-Talib providing a presence up front. And it was the lone striker that got the breakthrough after 20 minutes, a striker's finish from a yard. With Adam "Package" Price dominating the midfield this enabled Peter's to consolidate the lead with a speculative finish from the byline for Griffith's first of the game. However, this seemed to spur Anne's into life and after a highly controversial freekick the striker finished after a scramble. This goal sparked an injury to the rock at the back for Peter's, Smith which pushed Peter's onto the back foot which led Anne's to equalise just before the break. Their resurgence continued into the second half but a spirited half time team talk gave heart to Peter's who after intially defending started playing some sumptuos football in the middle of the park. The Anne's defence just couldnt deal with the combined efforts of Griffiths, Al Talib, Pearman and Slingsby and crumbled. Griffiths completed a well taken hattrick before adding a fourth while Al-Talib finished tidily for his second and 8th of the season. Tomlins at the back made sure there was no comeback from an Anne's team who simply couldnt compete with the passing on display.
There was even time for Pearman in stoppage time to grab his first goal for Peter's with a stunning 35 yard shot to complete the rout.
Peter's now will be able to move on with confidence against Trinity after certainly their best performance of the season.
